Letter From The Founder

Welcome to Dream for Future Africa Foundation.

These are momentous years in Africa and a great privilege to be working with Africa's young. Here is our dream – rising opportunity, sustainable growth, and a role in the momentous events that are shaping all of our futures.

I was born and grew up in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, and remember the rich culture, the pride of our parents in our aspirations and successes, and the insistence of our community to always contribute, to give back to the future what was so generously given to us by our past.

But we still have so much work to do. We are so grateful for those of you who join us in building that future by the commitments we make today.

We are very happy to report great progress in the construction of our new vocational training center in Aletu, Ethiopia. This new center will mean so much to the children we have been nurturing and educating for more than a decade. We have worked with some of the children who graduated from high school this year since they were six years old and just entering elementary school.

You will see that we have made some improvements to our website this year, including a new set of photo albums showing our groundbreaking ceremony on the shared campus, our reception by the U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia who made a visit to the campus, along with my own family, my husband Wolfgang Puck and our sons Oliver and Alexander, who traveled from the U.S. to Africa so they could visit with the students and join me for all the events. Enjoy the new photos – and keep a sharp eye on our DFFAF Events web link where we will show you even more.

We have also added a Wish List tab on the website that will keep you informed of the immediate needs we have on our shared campus – from proper security fencing and gates to a new playground and sports field. Several of these projects, which all have modest budgets, include naming rights: What a wonderful gift for a parent or child that will provide a living memorial to your good will and demonstrate your deep love for your own family and for the children of Africa!

To learn more about levels of sponsorship, you may go here on our Contacts page.

Our principal focus right now is the new training school for the children that did not go directly to a university following high school. The new training center will give these promising kids world-class skills in computer technology, culinary arts and hotel management. Every young adult under our care should leave our campus with reliable vocational skills to fall back on that will bring them employment wherever they choose to go in Africa and beyond.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions about how you might support what we are trying to accomplish. Thank you for visiting.

Sincerely
